Program Overview
The Egyptian Institute of Directors offers a Certificate Program which aims to equip participants with the specialized knowledge in corporate governance and related issues that affect their long-term planning, the working procedures of their board and information disclosure. It further covers other subjects as highlighted in the program structure below.
The EIoD is the sole provider of this accredited program in the Middle East and North Africa in both Arabic and English languages.
This program was designed with the financial and technical support of the International Finance Corporation “IFC”.

Who Should Attend
This  program is designed for board chairs, board members, corporate directors, senior executive officers and top management of listed and non listed companies from private sector, state owned enterprises and banks in Egypt and the Middle East.

Program Structure
The Board Development Series (BDS) consists of four related parts, where each part is composed of six modules (delivered over three days), making a total of 24 modules over a period of non- consecutive 12 days.

Part I: An Introduction to Board and Corporate Governance

- Module 1: The Definition of and Rationale for Good Corporate Governance.
- Module 2: Building an Effective Board - Roles and Authorities, Duties and Liabilities.
- Module 3: Board Election, Composition and Structure - The Right Mix-of-Skills and Importance of Independent Directors.
- Module 4: Executive and Non-Executive Remuneration - How to Attract, Retain and Motivate Directors and Officers.
- Module 5: The Working Procedures of the Board and Its Committees, and the Role of the Corporate Secretary.
- Module 6: Case Study: Conducting a Board Self-Evaluation.


Part II: Practical Tools for Strategic Guidance and Managerial Oversight

Certified Director
The EIoD offers a unique certification available to participants who have attended the four parts of the board development series. Being a Certified Director will show that you possess all the key information and knowledge to be an effective and dynamic board member of any board.

The certificate offers a benchmark and a standard to directors. It further increases the opportunity of the participant to serve as an independent director and enhances the career prospects of the participant as top- executive or director of companies and boards in Egypt and the region.

To be a Certified Director you have to:
- Attend at least 8 credit hours out of 12 credit hours” Total course duration “.
{ 1 Credit hour = 1 Training day}.
- Take the 4 self-assessment of the 4 parts
- Pass with an average score not less than 80%.

Participants who wish to broaden their knowledge, experience and understanding of corporate governance and related issues rather than acquiring a certification can attend any part of the program individually, without committing to attend the whole program or take the self-assessments.
Certificate of attendance is issued by the EIoD for those who completed the attendance of each part.

Training Methodology
- Foreign and Egyptian Experts on the corporate governance issues will deliver the course in an interactive manner to allow and encourage peer discussions among the participants.
- Course materials will comprise of PowerPoint presentations, background materials (e.g. articles and papers), and best practice documents.

     - English version: 6000 EGP
     - Arabic version: 4000 EGP
Including program materials and self-assessment, this fee does not include hotel accommodations.
